SECS is commited to producing and advertising the work of student and young working composers. However, as a Sydney University Union Society, we require an Access card number in addition to our $5 Membership fee.
You must be a member of SECS to have your work performed. Exception are made for professional composers on collabouration with the current executive.
What’s Expected Guide: Piece Submissions
For piece submissions to Sydney Eclectic Composers Society [SECS] Concerts, the following are required:
* These are only required if you do not have a complete bio on the SECS website, if this has already beencompleted with previous submissions, instead attach a link to your bio
(It will be: www.secsmusic.com/yourfullnamehere.htm )
# If you don’t know how to save your scores as a PDF file, search Google for PDF995, a printer driver that allows you to print to PDF
The CD waiver is a document that allows SECS to produce and publish a CD online, which will be available for free download for 12 months. We believe that this is the best way to promote your music and get it out there, but we need your permission to do so.
Dates for the waiver can be found on the SECS Forum under Concert Submissions.
Before submitting score please check that parts are correct, scores are readable and that everything is exactly as you want it. Unless we specifically ask for changes, no changes can be made after submission, to avoid unnecessary chaos.
We also require you attend a minimum of 1 rehearsal to be involved with the process and to help with the interpretation of the piece. Concert organisers have the right to remove pieces from the program if composers cannot make the commitment to help in the performance of their own music.
We look forward to your submission and the performance of your work.
